- Domestic online uploads use JPG up to 600 KB; overseas online uploads may allow JPG, JPEG, BMP, or PNG from 20 KB to 2 MB.
- Background
- No background objects; white is recommended by Japan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
- Position and expression
- Photo should be front-facing, bareheaded, taken within 6 months, with head height 34 mm plus or minus 2 mm.
- File or print note
- Use the file format and size specified for domestic or overseas online application routes.
